I look forward to the Summer Holidays massively, I still have to work but I usually manage a day off a week to spend with the kids and Mr and we try to have fun.
Money is tight, there is no denying but that does not mean we can not make memories this holidays, especially as it is Addison’s first one before school.
This week we decided to have a Fancy Dress Picnic Playdate, how could this not be fun ?We invited some friends, headed to Asda and bought healthy and naughty treats, picked up some paper plates/napkins and cupcake set (combined only £5.50) so there would be less cleaning up for me and makes it feel more partified.
I then got all our costumes, masks, little extras and set them all up along with a nice big blanket and some toys. We ended up having the actual picnic inside, but that doesn’t worry us as we are big picnic lovers no matter the weather.
The kids had so much fun helping me bake some cakes in the morning and then choosing which costume to put on first. Asda kindly sent us some costumes to top up our already bought collection, also mainly from Asda as for £12.50 you get an amazing outfit and all accessories, you can’t say no for that price, just put one in the trolley on the weekly shop (well that’s what I do).
As the weather brightened a little the kids headed outside with patio chalk and outside games, it was a blast, they played happily and the adults got to enjoy Tea and Cake.
Addison was so happy after everyone left, she said it felt like such a special day and it was, it was simple but that’s what its all about making memories. We now have another one all set up ready with Addison’s Pre-School friends, there shall be Pirates and Princesses I am sure.
